A hands-off parenting movement that encourages children to take risks and
make independent choices is emerging as an antidote to today's regimented
and stressful child-rearing style.
Some parents are now embracing
so-called "slow parenting" or "free-range parenting" methods, which aim to
let kids feel liberated as they play, allowing them to learn about the world
with fewer restrictions.
Carl Honoré, a father of two and author of the books In Praise of
Slow and Under Pressure, said the idea is to allow young
people to largely discover the world for themselves, rather than to force
young people into overstructured, overscheduled lifestyles that "turn
parenting into a race for perfection."
While Honoré said he understands parents' desires to help their children
succeed, they should also understand the benefits of taking a backseat
"Slow parenting is about bringing a bit of balance back," he said. "It's
about giving children the time and space to explore their own world at their
Over time, Honoré said, the aim is for young people to "work out who they
are, rather than who we want them to be."
Free Ranging of kids has its limits, just how late do you let them cross that
park at night visiting their friends and their parents not having a clue where
they are most of the time.
Then there are the parents who are control freaks, sociopaths who rule by terror
and or enroll their child in ever activity possible till it fills up all their
weekends and evenings.
Women by nature of gender have around 10 times the mental health problems of men
and its that small but significant percentage of the male and female parent
population that are most likely to be parents who leave a trail of destruction
and create children who are a high probability of growing up to have the same
dysfunctional personality as the parent with whom they live.
In Canada, children have next to no legal rights. There is nothing on a birth
certificate to confirm by DNA who their father and mother are. Children deserve
that legal right. Now, it could be an egg Cperm from Sweden and and egg from
India that ends up in the womb of a surrogate for a same sex couple.
That child is bound to grow up to be extremely angry that their parents robbed
them of their right to know who their real biological parents were.
In Canada MORE children grow up without living with their biological father than
those who do. That dirty little fact is a result of our Corrupt Man Hating
Family Court Judges who uses ever dirty trick to engage in "The Process of
Justification", that is, judges can generally be relied upon to write fictitious
decisions that place children with mothers and leaves fathers living in poverty.
